Sonnet 107 ā Unthinkable
You wanted to make yourself beautiful
for me, though no one else could know what
your desires were. It was unthinkable
to me that you could shine more brightly, that
you could not see what a wonder you were.
I recall, though, that I dropped my coat when
I first saw you there and I remember
thinking Iād never question you again.
I spent the evening lost in you ā I tried
to seem casual even as I fought
the desire to hold you. I can not hide
my passion for you, though I know I ought
to. I want to spend a long life in love
with you and I want others to approve.
